2. DEBT2WEALTH

2.1 Overview 2.2 Self Coaching 2.3 Eliminator 2.3 Calculate Plan 2.5 Build Wealth 2.6 Pay It Forward

2.1 OVERVIEW

“Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” presents a powerful and practical system for regaining control of and managing your finances. By following this system you will eliminate your debts and start to build wealth, irrespective of your current income. This is the stuff they never taught you at school, college or university. Yet it’s the most important financial education you could ever undertake.

This is no gimmick, or maverick system that can only work for a few people. You will learn sound financial principles which can be applied by anyone. You will be shown step by step, practical instructions that you need to follow to chart your way to total financial freedom, taking into account your current income and any debts you currently have. “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” is your own one-on-one personal financial coach, guiding you to sure success.

HOW CAN YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT THIS SYSTEM REALLY WORKS?

Because similar principles have been taught to people around the world and the lives of thousands of people have been changed.

“Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” is a unique presentation of these principles, designed to meet modern needs, lifestyles, attitudes and cultural influences. It is can be applied with the same success anywhere in the world.

THERE ARE SIX ELEMENTS TO THE SYSTEM:

  1. Become Your Own Financial Coach
  2. Find Your Eliminator Margin
  3. Calculate Your Debt2Wealth Plan
  4. Work Your Debt2Wealth Plan
  5. Apply Key Wealth Building Principles

2.2 SELF COACHING

I am confident that when you buy your copy of “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” you will learn principles and financial strategies that will change your life – IF YOU APPLY THEM. You have to put what you learn into practice, consistently and over the long term. You will need a degree of self discipline and persistence, words we don’t much like to here in today’s “if it feels good – do it” society.

That’s why the book contains an eye-opening chapter on self-coaching, helping you to understand your own hidden and perhaps deeply ingrained attitudes towards money, debt and wealth and helping you to change your self-talk where necessary.

Self coaching is all about both “the now and the future”. “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” will give you the confidence and ability to move forward in a positive manner in the areas of your life where you crave change. It will help you to break down mental barriers that prevent this change from happening and motivate you towards positive action.

2.3 ELIMINATOR

You will learn how to analyse every area of your normal monthly expenditure and create a 'margin' of money that will be applied to initiate your personal debt elimination plan. You may think that finding any “extra” money is impossible but you will be amazed at the money you can "find" once you get started, and I promise you – you’ll get excited about this!

You will soon be able to identify these areas and find alternatives and options where savings can be made to maximise your margin, which is the starting point for applying the system to your personal circumstances.

Click here for an extensive listing of areas where you could save money.

2.4 CALCULATE PLAN

Once you have created your Eliminator Margin you can really begin to take control of your finances. The amount of your Eliminator Margin is applied to your debts in a specific order using a specific process you will learn. As you work through the step-by-step instructions the system will reveal before your very eyes your personal plan for eliminating your debts, one at a time, and you will know the exact date when you will become debt free! Just seeing this date, and understanding the logic behind it is the strongest possible motivation to work your plan.

2.5 BUILD WEALTH

By the time you’ve cleared your debts, you will have developed financial skills and discipline that few people will ever possess. You will be a changed person, and in a position to take real control over your financial future.

However, “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” does not just leave you there. It contains an overview of essential wealth building principles which you can begin to apply immediately, including an explanation of residual and leveraged income streams – something everyone should have, but so few understand.

It’s worth reminding yourself of just a few of the immense benefits that will come to you from living debt-free:

2.6 PAY IT FORWARD

One of my favourite films from the year 2000 was “Pay It Forward” starring Haley Joel Osment, Helen Hunt and Kevin spacey. In it, a young boy attempts to make the world a better place.  Reuben St. Clair, the teacher and protagonist in the book “Pay It Forward,” (by Catherine Ryan Hyde) starts a movement with this voluntary, extra-credit assignment: THINK OF AN IDEA FOR WORLD CHANGE, AND PUT IT INTO ACTION.

Trevor, the 12-year-old hero of “Pay It Forward,” thinks of quite an idea. He describes it to his mother and teacher this way: "You see, I do something real good for three people. And then when they ask how they can pay it back, I say they have to Pay It Forward. To three more people each. So nine people get helped. Then those people have to do twenty-seven." He turned on the calculator, punched in a few numbers. "Then it sort of spreads out, see. To eighty-one. Then two hundred forty-three. Then seven hundred twenty-nine. Then two thousand, one hundred eighty-seven. See how big it gets?"

It’s true. “Sometimes the simplest idea can make the biggest difference.” And since the book was released in January of 2000, a real-life social movement has emerged, not just in the U.S. but worldwide. People determined to “Pay It Forward” in their lives.

I hope that every purchaser of “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” takes up this vision and “Pays It Forward”.

This is the 5th and final step. By helping at least one other person by teaching them these principles and this system, you will reinforce it in your own mind. And of course, you will change someone’s life for the better forever. It could (and should) be your children, or a family member, or a friend.

What if you could help three people? Do you realise how big it could get, and how many people could be helped to defeat debt and improve their lives?

3. LEVERAGED INCOME

It’s sometimes called a “game” but it’s really a trap. And you are probably caught in this insidious trap. However, like the theme of the “Matrix” you probably don’t realise it. You may have a vague feeling of uneasiness, a sense that something is not quite as it should be, but that’s about as far as it goes. You put your head down and get on with the daily grind.

I’m talking about the “Trading Time For Money” game.

In this game you’ll work hard, bring work home when needed and strive for advancement and recognition. If you are in business for yourself, the game won’t be very different. You are probably working even longer hours, and paying yourself last, after everyone else. Instead of an employer owning you, your clients do.

The rules of this game dictate that your occupation is probably your sole source of income, and if you were unable or did not want to continue, the income would stop.

It’s a straight time for money transaction. You work for an hour, and your company pays you for that hour. Oh, and don’t forget, one of the sneaky little tricks of the game is that the government takes 15-20 minutes in tax!

You’ll play the first part of the game for thirty five or forty five years. Then you’ll start the second part, where you stop working, draw a small portion of your previous income level as a pension and hope that this, (plus social security and any savings) will be enough to see out your days with some measure of comfort.

Sounds like a whole bunch of fun, doesn’t it?

This game has been sold as “the norm” and we’ve all come to accept it. But the truth is it holds people prisoner within a dysfunctional economic system.

The fact is that 'Trading Time For Money" is a losing game, with all the cards stacked against you. You can never win, and you will never attain financial security this way.

If you want to join the ranks of those who have achieved true financial freedom you must start to play by different rules. It’s essential that you understand and apply the secret of leveraging your income.

4. DEBT MATTERS

4.1 Debt Trap 4.2 Your Mortgage 4.3 Debt Burdens 4.4 Facing Reality 4.5 Starting Over

4.1 DEBT TRAP

WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BEAT THE DEBT TRAP?

You can't get out of debt because the financial lending institutions (the banks, mortgage, loan and credit card companies) don't want you to. That’s right. They really don’t want you to!

Your debt, and the interest you pay, is their profit. So they would like to keep you in debt until you are old and gray. And they have strategies, systems, top psychological research, backed with big, big marketing budgets – all designed to manipulate your choices and your lifestyle to keep things that way.  It’s great for them, but bad, very bad for you.

And you are not alone. In fact most of the people you know and deal with on a daily basis struggle with this same dilemma.

The hard truth is that BEFORE you can build up personal wealth you must eliminate your debts.

4.2 YOUR MORTGAGE

WHY IT PAYS TO CLEAR YOUR MORTGAGE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE:

Did you know how much a £100,000 mortgage over 25 years, repaid at an average rate of interest of 7% (over the life of the mortgage) will really cost you?

£215,000

What that means is that you’ll end up paying for the house next door, then some more as well. But even that’s not the end of the story.

But wait! If you are earning £30,000 per year do you know how much you have to earn in AFTER TAX MONEY to pay off this mortgage?

£294,428

In other words, the true cost of this mortgage is – just about every working day of your life for the next 10 years!

That’s why it’s so important that you start applying the Debt2Wealth principles today – so that you can clear your mortgage in 7 years or less. It will save you tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds and make a dramatic difference to your financial security and the quality of life that you and your family will enjoy.

By the way, it’s worth making sure that your current mortgage is as competitive as possible and you are not paying any more than you need to. If you’d like a free, independent and confidential mortgage review I’ll be happy to arrange this for you. 4.3 DEBT BURDENS

THE BURDEN OF DEBT

Personal debt is an unfortunate fact of life for most people living in the western world. However, a higher proportion of the UK population faces this problem than in other parts of Europe. Literally millions of people, from all social and income levels, find themselves backed into a financial corner by debt. Only our North American counterparts come close to matching us in this carefree financial abandon. So you’ve probably got a 25 year mortgage, a car loan, several credit cards, store cards and maybe a personal loan too!

Most of us accept this as normal. But it isn’t normal. Debt is an enormous and often crushing burden on our lives. I know how stressful life can be when you’re deep in debt. If you are going through this right now you have my deepest sympathy and I really want to help you get out of this seemingly endless situation.

Before you can even start to tackle debt, you need to make a mental decision that debt is something you no longer wish to accept in your life. To make such a decision, and follow it through with action you need to have strong motivation. The fact is that you won’t have this motivation unless you face the cold hard truth about what debt has really cost you, and your family.

5. ABOUT

5.1 Larry Grant, Founder, Debt2Wealth 5.2 Personal Mission Statement

5.1 LARRY GRANT, FOUNDER, DEBT2WEALTH

Actually, despite having once posed for a poster in the style of "Men In Black" (which you will never, ever see), I am not an undercover agent working for the Financial Services Authority. I don't always wear black suits, white shirts & dark sunglasses - and don't hate everyone called 'Mr. Anderson'. Actually I'm just a regular, nice guy. No, really. Whilst my C.V. contains stuff like "motivational leader" and "results-driven financial strategists", I rarely carry a framed version of this with me and have not attempted to use it as a dating ice-breaker for months now.

I grew up in South London and did not muster up the courage to move north of the river until my mid thirties. The shock to my system (caused primarily by a sudden abundance of taxis) was so great that I was advised, on medical grounds, to move out of London altogether and now live in more rural and tranquil surroundings.

With over 25 years' experience at senior and directorship levels covering all sectors of the Financial Services industry, my financial career has included insurance broking and underwriting, investment analysis, trading systems development, stock, commodity and currency asset management, mortgage and loan consultancy, financial advising and debt counseling.

I guess that I'm known for challenging widely held opinions and asking obvious, but often difficult, questions. I believe that many more people need to think and reason their way through issues and situations rather than simply following the crowd. As my many years' experience in the City of London’s business environment have taught me, in financial matters the crowd is often wrong.

As you might expect from a keen Arsenal supporter, my personal philosophy is; work hard, play beautifully and stay at the top of your game...

More importantly, as a committed Christian, I’m passionate about helping others to get the most out of life and succeed in their goals, and as a Personal Coach I specialize in helping people to become totally free from debt and learn to build wealth. Why debt counselling?  I’ve been there. I know the pain.

This website, and the book “Debt2Wealth: Step-By-Step Financial Freedom” is my way of paying something forward. Through helping others in this way I’ve been blessed to come into contact with some truly wonderful and beautiful people. Thank you to each and every one of you who have helped me to get this vision off the ground.

By the way, if you are interested in accessing some of the best educational material available on wealth creation, please click on the "Wealth University" link and take full advantage of the 14 day free trial available from LogicL. I would encourage you to listen to something or read something every day from this site. The education is priceless - get as much as you can out of the free trial. Finally, as you’ve got this far, here’s something funny (and slightly embarrassing!) that happened to me the other day... click here.

7. SELF-EVALUATION

FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE APTITUDE SELF-EVALUATION

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being "never" and 5 being "alwaysor 1 meaning "this doesn't describe me at all" and 5 meaning "this describes me perfectly".

1. Personal Balance: I am a balanced person week in and week out. My priorities are in the right order and set in stone. I feel confident. I feel relaxed and energized. My finances are very important to me but they are not the most important thing to me.
2. Financial Motivation: I am continually looking to improve my current lifestyle. No matter what accomplishments or success I achieve I will always have a desire to improve myself and my financial situation. I am thankful for the success I have had.

3. Retirement: I am absolutely comfortable with my current retirement plan. I know that when I will retire I will have the choices open to live where I want to and have the funds to do the things I want to. I have made out a Will and am happy in the knowledge that when I'm gone my loved ones will be well provided for and that the Tax Man will not get to take back all my hard earned assets.

4. Debt, Credit, Poverty and Abundance: I do not squander my hard earned money on frivolous purchases or my credit on investments that do not produce more in return. I am not afraid of large amounts of money, big deals, or no money at all.
5. Financial Goals: I have specific short and long-term financial goals. I am supported in these goals by my spouse and children. I regularly review these goals and track my progress. I have met my rational financial goals in the past. I am honest with myself.
6. Financial Intelligence: My money works for me. If I did not work for a week, a month, or a year, I would still have money coming in. I understand and apply the strategy of compound interest and use it to benefit me and not my creditors.
7. Taxes: I pay my taxes on time. I am honest on my claims. I use a tax professional to help maximize my deductions, give me advise, help me plan during the tax year, and save me time. I am never surprised by a tax refund or bill. I am not afraid of the Tax Man.
8. Saving & Investing: I set aside a specific percent of my income for savings. My savings have grown steadily for many years. I fully understand the value my savings provides for me and my family. I feel completely at ease in the world of investing. I understand how the markets work. I have a diverse portfolio. I am maximizing the tax efficiency of my savings and investment plans.
9. Passive & Residual Income: I am aware that the most powerful and rewarding form of income is passive or residual income whereby I work once and continue to get paid repeatedly and indefinitely for this work. (Examples are book or music loyalties, network marketing income.) I have these forms of income working for me in my life. If I stopped working today I know that I have the security of this income for the future.

10. Purpose: I am fulfilling my life's purpose. I will look back on my life and will have no regrets. The financial decisions I make today are giving me great satisfaction now and are adding up for a complete life tomorrow. My life is enhanced by my financial choices.

Below are 6 written questions and one dream statement:
(These are designed to allow you to express yourself more specifically - consider each one carefully)

1. Please explain your current financial situation: (be as honest as you can)

2. What are your financial goals for this year? (be as specific as possible)

3. What are your financial goals for the next 5 years, 10 years, and for life?

4. What has debt cost you? (List the burdens caused by your debt)

5. What is the main reason you are considering the Debt2Wealth System?

6. Please list 5 ways your life will be different when you are debt free:

Please describe your perfect financial future:

If you made all the right financial choices and stuck to them, how would your life be? How would you view yourself? How would those you love view you? What would a day in your life be like?
(Please be as descriptive as possible. Allow yourself to be creative and enjoy this)

10. RESOURCES

Even though the number of people in the UK with financial problems continues to rise, many individuals who cannot afford to pay their debts want the opportunity to at least act honourably and avoid bankruptcy. Their options are clear – either borrow more money or offer a repayment schedule to their creditors.

I have already suggested why borrowing more money by way of a consolidation loan may not be your best option. If you go down the road of trying to reschedule your debts you have the choice of either coming to an informal arrangement, possibly with the assistance of a debt management company, charitable organisation or government organisation. Alternatively you could  enter into a Voluntary Arrangement.

INFORMAL ARRANGEMENTS

An informal arrangement may be difficult to administer if you have a lot of demanding creditors. Some lenders do have their own debt counsellors and you could try speaking to them directly. It may be better to speak to an independent organisation such as those mentioned below which do not have a vested interest in any of your debts. I strongly advise that you steer clear of private debt management companies that will charge you significant fees to negotiate with your creditors. You can end up paying more to them than to your creditors, and they are taking advantage of an already desperate situation. Remember also that these informal arrangements place no legal obligation on your creditors. The agreements are only made for a short period of time (e.g. six months or one year) after which the whole situation may need to be renegotiated again.

Informal arrangements should really only be considered if you are absolutely certain that your payment problems are temporary, in which case you should negotiate a reduced payment schedule directly with your creditors. Don’t pay your money away to someone else to do this for you.

INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTARY ARRANGEMENTS (IVAs)

A Voluntary Arrangement is a legal agreement between you and your unsecured creditors, whereby you pay an agreed and affordable sum of money of money each month, usually for 5 years. The total that you pay is then divided up between your creditors who accept this sum in full and final settlement of all that you owe them.

Voluntary Arrangements (or Individual Voluntary Arrangements, often called IVAs) were introduced in 1986 as part of government legislation in order to provide people in financial difficulty with a second chance. This procedure is formally recognised but does not carry the same burden or stigma as bankruptcy. As a result, Voluntary Arrangements are today regarded as a positive way out of debt, enabling an individual to protect themselves from legal action by their creditors including bankruptcy.

A Voluntary Arrangement is administered by an insolvency practitioner whose fees are paid out of the money you pay to your creditors, in other words there are no additional charges for you on top of your debt.

BANKRUPTCY
